The Via Dolorosa, have you heard of it? It is a narrow street thru the Old part of Jerusalem, Israel and is known for being part of the walking path Jesus took carrying the wooden cross up to the hill known as Mount Calvary. It is not mentioned by name in the bible, but what is known it is part of the processional path Jesus was taken along by the Roman soldiers. It still exists today as not much has changed in the Old City of Jerusalem.

I have been there thanks to some photo editing I did some years ago. As you can see I was riding my tadpole trike down the street. The street is about 600 meters long or 3/8 of a mile.

As you can see in the picture the street is very narrow yet there was a large crowd of people lining it when Jesus walked along carrying the cross. It looks to be only about 10 feet wide. I am basing that on the width of my trike which is about 34 inches.

The Via Dolorosa is also known as The Way of Sorrows. It is amazing that there are people who walk this route in modern times carrying a wooden cross. I guess they think that this somehow impresses God and wins favor with Him. A few have allowed themselves to be beaten to where they are bloody and fewer still have actually yielded themselves to be nailed to a cross … again thinking that this impresses God. How blind and stupid religion is. They are just fools and nothing more … like those who crawl on their hands and knees to where they are bloody … all the while thinking they are impressing God somehow.

What would really impress Him is for them to repent of their sin and seek His forgiveness giving their hearts to Jesus and then to walk in obedience before Him daily. Then they would truly accomplish something. Our shed blood is of no value or significance.

Jesus shed His precious blood in our place so that we don’t have to. The devil has lied to them and convinced them otherwise. He is a master at deception. Has he deceived you?
