This well known Christian song was popular back in the early 1990s. It was written about a family in the church my wife and I used to go to. The late singer/ songwriter/stand up comedian Aaron Wilburn, knew of this family and their story and told his fellow Christian singer/songwriter, Bruce Carroll, about them. The two of them collaborated together to write this song. So it is a true story we were ever so slightly involved in just because we went to church there and knew this family.

I have heard the testimony over and over from various sources how having a special needs child can be a tremendous blessing rather than a horrific burden upon the parents and society the devil and this world would try to tell us. Often times such children only live for a limited time, but while they are here with us they bring great joy to the child’s parents. This child passed away within a few years of life. I am so glad Aaron had the insight to create a song about her.

The devil is a liar and he rules over this world we live in. We have a choice whether to believe his lies or God’s truth. He is a master at deceiving. He makes so many things sound and look good to us, but it is all lies. Sin may be great and attractive for awhile, but it has a horrible ending. Has he deceived you?
