I was just browsing thru some YouTube videos of Bruce Carroll when I came across this one which I had not heard before. Certainly I have written about the subject numerous times … that we are all bought and paid for by our Creator Who loves us. What are you talking about, you ask. I am talking about everyone of us. Satan owns us, but God has bought and paid for everyone of us that we might be free from his control and ownership over us.

Recently I wrote about the little boy who crafted a toy sailboat. He did a superb job on it and when he took it out to a nearby pond to sail it he made sure he kept it fairly close to shore so that it did not get away from him. All was going well when a sudden storm came up with waves and a fierce wind which took his boat away toward the other side of the pond. He tried his best to get over there, but by the time he did his boat was no where to be found. He had lost it. Time passed by when he was walking down the sidewalk past a pawn shop where he saw his sailboat on display in the storefront window. He desperately wanted it back, but in order to get it he would have to pay the asking price at the pawn shop. He paid that price and got his boat back. He had made it paying what it costs him then only to lose it. Then he bought it back meaning he paid for it twice. It ended up being expensive, but it was worth it to him and he willingly did it.

God did the same for us. He originally made us but sin came along and we got separated from God. He finds us in the devil’s pawn shop and the only way to get us back is to pay the price which He willingly did. It was a very high price but He was willing to pay it. Yes, you and I are bought and paid for …

Now if He was willing to pay the price shouldn’t we give careful thought and consideration to what He did for us. No one else stepped forward to pay the price and no one else could have afforded us anyway. You may be thinking that you are perfectly fine and don’t need “rescuing”. Then you don’t understand the seriousness of the bondage you are in. You are being held captive and there is no escape other than this offer God offers you. It breaks God heart for anyone to turn down His offer to free them.

Have you heard the story of the frog in the kettle of water? We the frog. The frog is nice and comfortable in the kettle of water but the kettle is being slowly heated and the water is getting warmer and warmer. But the frog is content as right now the warm water feels good and he is fine with it even though he notices that the water is getting warmer and warmer. He thinks … I can handle this so he makes no attempt to get out of the kettle. Yes, he stays there until it starts to boil and then it is too late to get out. His goose is cooked. “If only”
