TO BELIEVE OR NOT BELIEVE

TO BELIEVE OR NOT BELIEVE

The apostle Paul told a jailer when asked what does he need to do to get saved simply … “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved” What does it mean to believe? The devil and his demons believe in Jesus but they are all going to hell for sure as hell was created for them. So let us examine the full meaning of the word believe as it is used here.

My personal favorite version of the bible happens to be the Amplified bible. In the Amplified this verse reads “Believe in the Lord Jesus [as your personal Savior and entrust yourself to Him] and you will be saved, you and your household [if they also believe].” So what does it mean to believe in Jesus? First let me state what it doesn’t mean. It doesn’t mean to simply believe in your head. It involves your heart … what you embrace in your heart. Yes, God knows our every thought, but more importantly He knows our hearts. We must believe that Jesus is Who He said He is/was … what the bible says about Him. We must put our faith and trust completely in Him and what He did for us on Calvary’s cross. That and that alone is what saves us.

A lot of people can say that they believe in Jesus, but they don’t have a saving knowledge and relationship with Him. They don’t know Him personally. I can say I know about someone … maybe a lot about them … but that doesn’t mean than I know them personally.

Unless you can say that you know Jesus Christ personally you are not saved my friend. It is just that simple and most serious. But you can be. Jesus is real. He is a personal God … One you can call on and meet. He will make Himself known to you and by the power and presence of the Holy Spirit you can experience all God has for you. Again it is by invitation only. He has already invited you and now He is waiting for you to invite Him. Invite Him into your heart and life today and make Himself real to you. You will never regret it, but you certainly will if you fail to do so.

Yes, biblical faith is far more than believing certain things to be true. It is totally embracing it with your entire being. Do you believe in Jesus?
