I didn’t say it, He did. “I am a worm and not a man, scorned by mankind and despised by the people.” (Psalm 22:6) That is in reference to Jesus. Elsewhere we find God’s Word saying that He was despised and rejected by men and He came upon His own and His own knew Him not. Numerous places in the bible tell us of His rejection when He came to earth. And that has never changed. Most of the world rejects Him. They do so at their own peril. There is a broad road … a wide highway … that leads to hell and a narrow pathway that leads to heaven. Most people travel along the wide highway. Why is that? Don’t they care? Don’t they believe? Do they go thru life asleep? What is it going to take to wake people up? His treatment on earth caused Him to call Himself a worm.

But do you know when He returns the next time He won’t be a helpless baby. He will be most highly exulted as the King of kings and the Lord of lords … for that is Who He is. No one will reject Him when He returns. He will be highly respected for Who He is.

But no one needs to wait until then to show Him honor and respect. In fact, it would be much better to befriend Him now and get right with God. Then you can be on the winning side. You will be among those Who return to earth with Jesus and eventually help to rule over an assigned area of earth under His rule.

It saddens my heart to know that God once called Himself a worm. He is so worthy … so very special … that our praise and thankfulness should be a part of each day of our lives. He knows our hearts and our thoughts. We can’t fool Him. He rules over all of creation. And yet He has time for you and me … everyone who will call on His name. If you do, be sure to tell Him He is not a worm!
