No greater love has ever been displayed than when Jesus died on a cruel wooden cross shedding His innocent blood for the purpose of purchasing our salvation. Yes, Love Ran Red that day as He demonstrated His great love for us. And He did this while we were still in the very act of sinning. Our sin makes us God’s enemies. That is not what God wants. He wants you and I to be His friend.
In case you didn’t know it … it is much better to be God’s friend than it is to be His enemy. He destroys His enemies, but He is super good to His friends.
The blood of Jesus in no ordinary blood. It is very special. First of all it is “innocent” blood. Jesus was sinless which means His blood is innocent. Innocent blood is required by God to provide forgiveness and cleansing. No other blood would have been acceptable. God is all powerful. That means His blood is powerful.
Yes, there is power in the blood of Jesus. We are all sinners and we all need that blood applied to our lives. Without it we are all doomed. Without it we will all face God’s judgement for our sin. Some people say that they will take that chance. They don’t know what they are saying. They don’t realize that they don’t stand a chance. Their sin condemns them and God’s Word is clear … “the wages of sin is death (eternal damnation)” where they will be in hellfire eternally separated from their Creator Who loves them.
Just as the innocent blood of slain animals was applied to the doorposts of the Israelites’ homes long ago to assure their safety from the death angel which was visiting that dreadful night … that innocent blood was used to instruct the death angel to pass over that house and not touch those inside. It was a foreshadowing of what was coming when Jesus would die on the cross shedding His innocent blood which He uses to apply to our lives so we will be passed over … escaping our fate of eternal damnation.
That innocent blood which fell upon the ground from the body of Jesus as He hung there on the cross didn’t remain there. It was collected and is in heaven until now. It is so precious! You can have it applied to your life just like millions of others have. Without it you will surely perish. All you need to do is call on the Name of Jesus. Acknowledge your sin and be willing to turn from it … to stop sinning. Believe in your heart that Jesus died in your place to pay the penalty for your sin. Invite Him into your life and heart and Confess that He alone can save you. Yes, it is as simple as ABC.
God knows us intimately. He knows our heart … whether or not we are serious and sincere. We can’t fool God. If we were serious and sincere He did come into us when asked to take up residence by the power of the Holy Spirit. You may have sensed His cleansing work and feel different, but not everybody does. It is important that we believe God’s Word … that He did what He said He would do … even if we don’t feel anything. Hopefully you will. It is a great feeling to feel His cleansing power knowing that you are forgiven and right with God. There is nothing like it … knowing that you are clean before the Lord.
God has said that all of our own righteousness is as filthy rags. We need to be cleaned up and only God can do that. He takes our unrighteousness and gives us His righteousness. It is the Great Exchange. Righteousness basically means “right standing or relationship with God”. Before and without Christ we are a “self made” person. And we do a poor job of it. God wants to and can make things altogether different. He “recreates” us … making us new creations … taking away old things and replacing them with new. All things become new. We think different, we talk different, we act different. The things that used to be important in our lives usually subside considerably. We lose some old friends and make new friends. We no longer care about some of the things we once did. We no longer go to some of the places we used to. We become a better person. All of this is thanks to Calvary.
