Have you ever found yourself believing very strongly about something … believing for all you are worth that you are right … only to later discover you were wrong? It happens to the best of us. And God knows it happens. He even wrote about it in His Word (the bible).

That’s right. We can be very sincere but very wrong … sincerely wrong! We may think we know something when we don’t. Or what we think we know is not correct.

In Matthew 22:29 Jesus answered a man by telling him he is wrong because he does not know the holy scriptures nor the power of God. God tells us to study His Word to show ourselves approved by rightly (correctly) understanding and applying God’s Word. 2 Timothy 2:15 tells us this. There are many who incorrectly misinterpret, misunderstand and misapply God’s Word.

There are many beliefs, thoughts, teachings, etc. concerning the Word of God, but there is only one true understanding. Yes, only one, not several. Sadly great harm has occurred among believers because of disagreement bringing division, but I am not here to talk about that.

If God’s people get it wrong how much more those who make no profession of being followers of Jesus?

So how do we know what is right? The answer to that is in God’s Word. God has not left us on our own. He gave us a teacher to lead us into all truth. The teacher is the indwelling Holy Spirit. He won’t/doesn’t /can’t teach one person one thing and another person something different. If and when that happens you can believe somebody is not be led by the Holy Spirit.

The bible never contradicts itself nor does it error. If we differ in what we say from another it is a human who is in error, not the Word of God. Furthermore God is not a liar. His Word is truth … the only source of absolute truth we have.

I think one of the most interesting subjects is the Bible vs Science … not pseudo science but true science. Pseudo science is false, fake, wrong and is always in contradiction to the Bible. However true proven science and the Bible are always in exact agreement.

History proves this out. Many different things were believed, taught and practiced by man in the past only to later discover it was incorrect. But God had told us in His Word the truth long long ago. If only mankind would have known, understood and applied God’s Word we would have never practiced “blood letting” in medical practice which killed many people including out first President, George Washington. Medical practitioners sincerely believed they were doing the right thing when, indeed, they were doing the exact opposite causing people to bleed to death. If only they had read and understood God’s Word which tells us that “life is in the blood” (Leviticus 17:11).

And remember that man once thought the earth was flat and if one travels far enough he will fall off of the edge. This was believed for many years. Yet if only God’s Word was understood … yep, you can read about it HERE.

Weather forecasting comes under the heading of science. For many years man was totally ignorant of the water cycle. He didn’t understand where rain comes from nor the source of the water we depend upon. Various theories were introduced, but they were all wrong. But God’s Word explained it all long ago. Read Isaiah 55:10, Ecclesiastes 1:7 and read HERE.

Man questioned where the winds come from and eventually science found the answer in God’s Word.

It was once believed that the earth was being held on the shoulder of a mythical giant. Guess what? God’s Word has the answer telling us that God has suspended it.

And what holds an atom together? Scientists tell us that an atom should fly apart, but it doesn’t. Why not? What keeps it from doing so? Again, God’s Word tells us that Jesus holds everything together. (Colossians 1:17)

And we have all heard that it is physically impossible for a bumblebee to fly. Hmmm, so much for science. With God all things are possible.

And many more things could be said to prove my point that God’s Word has and is the answer … the source of truth if only we would turn to it.

We are continuing to discover grave errors in what we have believed and done. Doctors used to tell us that salt if bad for us and we need to reduce our salt intake. But now we are being told just the opposite. And we now know that cutting into a tumor to take a biopsy spreads any existing cancer elsewhere in the body. God had placed the cancer in the tumor to protect us. Oh well, it is all about making money … lots of money! God’s Word says that the love of money is the root of all evil. One does not have to look far to see this is very true.
