IT IS FINISHED!

What is finished? The mission. The mission Jesus was on when He came to earth 2000 years ago. What Jesus spoke while hanging on the cross probably are not the words most of us would have spoken.

Yes, when He was on the cross we were on His mind. Today as I write this it is Good Friday. We celebrate or observe it in recognition of Jesus dying for us on the cross. He did not have to do it. He chose to do it knowing He was saving multitudes of people. The cross was probably to cruelest form of death ever devised. The Romans came up with it to provide the maximum amount of suffering a person could undergo before dying.

There have been a lot of different songs written about the cross of Jesus. This evening in our church we will have a 60 minute long service where a wooden cross will be brought in as part of the service. This is done every year. It has become a tradition in our church.

I think perhaps the most powerful thing I have done is to read the article a medical doctor wrote describing what someone who is hung on a cross underwent as their physical body strained dealing with the agony. I think everyone ought to read it so that we better understand and appreciate what Jesus willingly did for us on that cross.

Jesus paid the price … the cost of our salvation. He did so willingly. He did this for you and for me. That is how much He loves us. That is why it upsets and angers Him when we ignore or reject what He did for us … to save us from the wages of our sin. When we reject Him we are telling Him that He suffered in great agony for nothing … that you don’t care what He did for you … that He did it for nothing. I personally can’t fathom anyone doing that if they truly understand what Jesus went thru for us. But millions do! Hell is ever expanding so that it can accept all those who are going there.

It is rather interesting that this day ended up being Good Friday when everything that happened appeared as dark and ugly … Black. I guess it is because it all led to Good. Even the sky turned dark and an earthquake occurred. No, there was nothing that seemed Good about that day. But LOVE grew where the BLOOD fell.

Oh that precious blood. It was shed for you and I. Without the shedding of innocent blood there is no forgiveness (or remission) of sin!

The picture above is said to be of a late comer to the crucifixion site where he is being told by another man what had transpired there that day.

These songs may not have an impact on your life, but they truly minister to me. They can to you as well if you submit yourself to the loving God.
