MAKEOVER NEEDED
Makeovers have become quite popular and many individuals have them done. Usually it is a great improvement in how something looks or works. Most of these makeovers involve considerable expense and so not everybody can get one. Sometimes someone else pays for it, which is super nice. Of course, not everyone really needs one … not the world’s kind of makeover anyway. But I am not talking about the world’s kind of makeover.
God is in the business of doing makeovers too and we all need one. The good news is that they are all prepaid. We don’t have to pay for any of it. God has it covered. All He wants and needs from us is our cooperation.
Most makeovers result in a remarkable transformation. God’s makeovers are no exception. The old is gone and everything becomes new. It is truly a matter of all new and improved. If and when we look into a mirror we will like what we see. God does good work! He just has to have our permission and cooperation.
Yes, God’s makeovers are free to us and we all desperately need one. No one can come unto the Father without one. No, we can’t “come as we are” to heaven. We don’t stand a chance of getting in. We can’t earn passage. We can’t buy passage. We can do nothing to impress God or win His favor. He tells us that all of our own righteousness appear as filthy rags to Him. We have no right standing with God. We need God’s help. When we turn to Him for that help He will start that makeover process in our lives. Unlike the makeovers in secular life have a beginning and an ending. God’s makeovers have a beginning, but they continue on until the Rapture or our death … whichever comes first.
I said that no one can come unto the heavenly Father with God’s makeover. That is not exactly true. There may not be time available for a makeover. A person can get saved just before they die. However, if there is time God will begin the makeover. God is very patient with us. He starts working in our lives and promises to finish the work He started. That is comforting and reassuring. as we are weak in this flesh. He doesn’t give up on us. I thank Him everyday for all of this.
The big problem is most of us don’t realize we are in need of God’s makeover. We go thru life thinking we are just fine as we are and we are perfectly content with life just as we know it. We don’t realize just how wretched we are. We need to see ourselves as God sees us. Open our eyes, Lord. Help us to see ourselves as you see us. Help us to allow You to do Your work in our lives. We need your makeover. Create in us a clean heart. Help us to be like You. You are the potter and we are the clay. Mold us and shape us and make of us what You want. Have Your way in our lives.
