We all like free things, but not everything is available for free. Most things cost us something. Most of us are willing to pay a fair price for something we want. Most things have a cost … a price we have to pay in order to obtain it.

Did you know that there are things we want that can’t be bought. Nope, no matter how much money or anything else it is just not available for any price. Can you think of anything that this is true of?

The one thing that comes to my mind is God’s salvation. God offers it freely. Many don’t believe or accept that. They want to pay something for it. They want to do something to earn it. However, it is only available for free … free for the asking. Nope, we can’t earn it or buy it. It’s free, but it will cost you to keep it.

First of all, we must be repentive in order to get it. That is the only requirement God has placed on it. We have to understand that our sin is rebellion against God and an affront to Him. God does not save us for us to continue living our lives in sin. He saves us and expects and requires us to strive to live a holy life which is pleasing and acceptable to Him. He expects us to change. He will do the changing … from the inside out. He will make us into a new creation with our cooperation and obedience. It requires submitting ourselves to Him.

Before salvation we are the one sitting on the throne in complete control of our lives. In salvation God demands that we step down off of that throne so that He can take over and be the one on that throne. We have to be sincere and most serious. We can’t play games with God. We can’t fool, trick or deceive Him. He knows our hearts.

I have good news for you. No one who is sincere and serious with God ever regrets the cost of salvation. At times living the Christian life can be challenging and difficult but it is worth it.

Living this life without Christ and the salvation He alone offers has but one outcome … eternity in hell. Nobody in their right mind would want that. But most people are going there as they ignore and reject God’s salvation. If you end up in hell it will be your fault. God is offering His salvation … AND IT IS FREE!
