You clicked it didn’t you? Right after I told you not to click it you clicked it. Shame on you. What is wrong with you? I told you not to and you did it anyway.
To be honest with you I fully expected you to click on it and end up here. Why? Because you are a sinner and it comes natural for you to do it. I would have done the same thing as I am a sinner also … we all are.
Don’t believe it. Let me illustrate it to you. God commands us not to covet … to desire what someone else has. We think of babies being innocent but we are all born with a sin nature. Put two babies together and give one or even both a toy … even an identical toy. What happens? Before long one of the babies will want what the other baby has and will try to get it … take it away from the other baby. That is covetousness. It is sin! And we call them innocent.
OK, now lets let these babies grow and become young children. Their mom is busy preparing supper for the family. She wants her family to eat healthy. Her child knows there are cookies in the cookie jar, but mom has instructed him/her not to get into the cookie jar as she does not want the child to spoil his/her appetite so they will eat there supper. The child heard his/her mom and understood her. Later mom walks into the room where the child is and see the evidence clearly on the face and hands of the child … they had been into the cookie jar. Mom confronts the child asking “did you get into the cookie jar after I told you not to?” With chocolate all over their mouth and hands they replay “no, mommy”. They just lied. Lying is a sin. Who taught this child to lie? No one! They did so all on their own. No one taught them to lie. They were born with a sin nature.
I could go on with these illustrations, but I think you can see that this sin nature is real and it is a problem … it is our problem as it separates us from a holy God Who loves us and can not allow sin into His presence. He knows about our problem and He willingly and purposely did something about it.
Paul Harvey tells this story about some birds that faced peril in a winter storm. He wanted to help them but they fled from him. There must be a way he thought.
God wanted to help us just like this man wanted to help the birds so He came to earth as one of us to save us from our sin. Those birds were ignoring the man trying to help them until he became one of them. They would have perished if he hadn’t shown them the way.
Jesus said of Himself … I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the heavenly Father except by Me. Sadly, most people ignore Him and reject Him. Like those birds they will perish if they don’t except the help being offered. God has warned us that the wages of sin is eternal damnation and death.
What will you do or have you done with Jesus? Someday your heart will be asking … “what will He (Jesus) do with me?”
Hey, just out of curiosity what would you have done if the title of this page was Please Click on This … or else?
