NOTHING BUT THE BLOOD

For many it is probably a bit weird and awkward to talk about blood, but for those who are being saved by it it is quite normal. We not only talk about it but we sing about it, apply it, trust in it and even plead the blood over others as well as ourselves. What blood you may ask? The precious blood of Jesus shed when He was crucified. It ran down His body as He hung there on the cross. It fell to the ground below. It was red just like everybody else has, but that is where the similarities end. It was special blood unlike yours or mine. What made it special was that it was innocent. Jesus never sinned His entire life. You and I can’t say that. We were born sinners. We are not able to save ourselves. We need help. The only One Who can save us is Jesus Christ.

The words to the song go … What can wash away all my sin? Nothing but the blood of Jesus. What can make me whole again? Nothing but the blood of Jesus. Oh precious is the flow That makes me white as snow. No other fount I know. Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Only someone who is saved by the blood of Jesus can understand and appreciate what I am saying. To anyone who is perishing and on there way to hell they think the preaching of the cross is foolishness. See 1 Corinthians 1:18. But to those who are being saved it is the power of God.

There is power in the blood of Jesus … power to save, power to forgive, power to heal … wonder-working power. Although that blood fell onto the ground I believe every drop of it is saved … on display … and is in heaven this very moment where it has been for nearly 2000 years. Yes, precious unique blood. There is none other like it. We all need it applied by God as without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness … no remission of sin.

I am so thankful for Jesus’ willingness to shed His blood for us. He did not have to. He could have refused to do what was required to provide our salvation but He chose to be obedient unto death to carry out the plan leading to salvation … the very task and purpose He came to earth for.

Oh the blood of Jesus. Have you had it applied in your life? Time is running out. Tomorrow may never come for you. None of us know if we will have our next breath or heartbeat.Today … right now … maybe your last chance.Today, if you hear God’s voice, do not harden your heart and miss out on the salvation Jesus alone offers. Oh the blood of Jesus, it washes white as snow!
