John Starnes is one of my favorite singers. There is a song he sings by that title … “He came to me”which I like as it tells it like it is. When we as lost sheep are found by Jesus, the Good Shepherd … it was exactly that. We could not go to where He was/is so He comes to us.
Yes, He comes looking for us. We don’t seek Him. We just need to respond to Him. Dont be like a lost lamb who does not want to be found. We can’t hide from God. He is calling each and everyone of us, but only a few respond. How sad! What do you suppose Jesus was thinking when He was hanging on that wooden cross? When He was on the cross, we were on His mind. We really were.
My wife and I used to be active members of CMA (Christian Motorcycle Association). They have annual rallies … one of the eastern half of the nation and one on the western half. Many years ago we attended one of the national rallies. John Starnes was the guest singer then and, of course, we really enjoyed his ministry. Here is another one of his songs …
Yes, when I could not go to Jesus, He came to me … and my life has been so different ever since then. I am here to tell you that my God is real …
God’s Word says that God is love. Jesus demonstrated His great love for us when He came to earth to carry out the Father’s plan to provide our salvation. Oh, the precious blood of Jesus! I am so thankful for the blood Jesus willingly shed that I might be saved. Yes, love grew where the blood fell …
I spent 8 years of my life serving in the US Navy during which time a lot of the passing years were spent on ships and out to sea. I can’t ever remember seeing a lighthouse, but I certainly understand the need for them. They serve multiple purposes, but mainly as a safety warning to passing ships navigating those waters. They serve as a navigation aid to let ships know where they are at and land nearby which they need to be aware of and watch out for. As we navigate our way thru life we also need help …we need a lighthouse of some sort to help guide us safely along. Jesus is that lighthouse.
I could go on and on posting John’s songs, but I won’t. Jesus puts a song in our hearts. After all, He is the source of music. And He really did come down to my level, when I couldn’t get up to His.
