KNOCK KNOCK

Most of us like good humor. Definitely I have heard some good knock knock jokes in my life. But I am not here to talk about knock knock jokes although if I think of any I may tell it to you.

No, what I want to talk about is serious … most serious. When someone wants to let another person know that they are at the door they knock or ring a door bell or both. When we hear their knock we know someone is at the door wanting our attention. Depending on who they are … why they are there … what they want … we may invite them in. We are quite used to it as it is just part of life.

It is the same with God. We don’t seek Him out but He seeks us. In fact His Word tells us that He (Jesus) stands at the door of our hearts and is knocking wanting us to open the door and allow Him to come in. Oh He could just walk on in without even opening the door, but He is a gentlemen and won’t force Himself upon anyone. He wants to be invited in.

He is the Good Shepherd Who watches over His sheep. He has lots of sheep, but He purposely goes out looking for lost sheep. When He finds them He wants very much to take them and place them among all the other sheep grazing together. But not all lost sheep are willing to go with Him. Some reject Him and all the great things He has for them.

Knock knock! Who’s there? Jesus. That is not funny. No, it is most serious … not at all funny. Sorry to disappoint you, but Jesus never will. Answer the door please. You will be sorry if you don’t.

I answered it some 50 years ago and never regretted it. It has been fantastic!

Here is a knock knock joke Jesus might tell …

Knock knock. Who’s there? Dozen. Dozen who? Dozen anyone want to let me in?

Ok, I’ll leave you with just one …

Knock knock. Who’s there? To. To who? It’s to whom!
