I was born with normal hearing. I worked all my life as a weldor which brought me into some very noisy environments. Consequently now in my old age I have some minor hearing loss which make it difficult to hear some things. I have a more difficult time hearing female voices than I do male voices. That is a fairly common thing for many folks to experience. I only mention it because I am writing about hearing.

Hearing is an important thing in our lives. I have had my ears impacted with ear wax more than once. Until I got this excessive ear wax removed I was pretty much deaf so I know what it is like not being able to hear. It is rather strange to live in a silent world. There are some things I don’t like to hear and given a choice I would prefer not hear these things if that were possible. But, of course, it doesn’t work that way.

Very few people can honestly say that they have heard the audible voice of God. Yet God does speak and some people do hear Him. Now I am not talking about hearing an audible voice. I am simply talking about a form of communication in which we commonly say we “heard” God. I am, of course, referring to His written Word and the ministry of the Holy Spirit. God speaks to us thru both. Sometimes the Holy Spirit can communicate with us so powerfully it seems like we hear God speak to us in an audible voice.

God calls out our name for salvation initially and many people “hear” Him. If you ever hear Him call out your name inviting you unto Himself I consul you not to ignore it. You may never have another opportunity. You may never “hear” His voice again. No one can say as none of us know the future.

God has told His people that at some point in the future there will be a trumpet sound from heaven which will be a signal to His people (those who are saved) to join Him in the air (somewhere above the earth) as He will come to get His people and take them away from this earth and unto Himself. After He removes His people He will commence a horrific time on earth when He will pour out His anger and wrath on those who have rejected Jesus and the salvation He offers. This will be a 7 year long period known as the Great Tribulation. The last 3 1/2 years will be far worse than the first 3 1/2 years. Satan incarnate will rule the earth. Many believe that Artificial Intelligence will be used by Satan to accomplish his evil upon mankind. All I know for sure is I sure don’t want to be here left on this earth to go thru what is coming. Each day my wife and I have our ears and spirit listening for that trumpet blast and our daily prayer is for us to be ready and found worthy to partake in this event we call the Rapture of the Church. We can’t earn our way to heaven but we can live a life committed to Jesus and doing our best to obey Him and bring glory to His Name. Like I said, it all starts with “hearing” Jesus call your name and responding to that call. Today if you hear His voice, do not harden your heart and ignore His bidding. He loves you and wants to save you from the wages of your sin … which is eternal damnation in hell. We all need to listen for Him.
