REASONING TOGETHER
Looking up online “come let us reason together” brings up “Come, let us reason together” is a phrase from Isaiah 1:18 in the Bible, where God invites people to discuss their sins and seek forgiveness, emphasizing the possibility of redemption. It highlights the importance of dialogue and reconciliation in addressing moral and spiritual issues.”
I have long considered what I attempt to write in the pages of this blog to be just that … inviting people to reason together in hopes that they will be sensitive and open to spiritual things I discuss. Is it worth it, you might ask? Is anybody responding. To be honest with you I don’t know the answer to that question. I certainly hope so, but in all these years I have never heard back from anyone telling me that they got saved as a result of reading something I wrote. How do you put a price on … assign a value to a human soul. It is priceless. It cost God His very life not to mention undergoing a horrific beating and death. That is the price He paid for your soul. Are you worth it? God thinks so. He was willing to pay that price even when we were still His enemies living in rebellion and in the very act of sinning. He did not have to do it but He loves you so much that He wanted to do it. He wanted to make a way where there was no way … a way to buy you back to Himself. He knew you needed help and could not help yourself. He alone was qualified to save you.
The rest of that verse in Isaiah reads … “Come now, let us reason together, says the LORD: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.” Yes, with His forgiveness He will exchange His righteousness for your sin. He will make you clean and acceptable unto Himself. He will take your sin and bury it in the sea never to be brought up again … to be used against you. Yes, though you sins are like scarlet (red) they can be as white as snow … like wool … you can be clean before the Lord and in you not one blemish will He see.
Wouldn’t you like that? It is a great feeling to know that your sins are forgiven … that you are right with God. With salvation comes a brand new life. You will become a different person … a new creation. With your help and yielding God will go to work in your life to accomplish this.
We are all a self made man or woman. We may think we have done a pretty good job especially when we compare ourselves to certain others, but God has said that all of our righteousness is as filthy rags. He does not use such a measuring stick comparing us with any other. He only uses Himself to compare against. Yep it is our righteousness up against His righteousness. There is no comparison. He is pure and holy. We can’t do anything to change this outcome. We can’t do anything to impress Him and win any kind of favor from Him. There is no brownie point or merit system. God does not use a balance scale to weigh our good deeds vs bad deeds. We all deserve hell and that is exactly what we will get if we ignore and reject the salvation He alone offers us. But pride stands in our way. We may think we have plenty of time … that we will get saved later. That is so foolish and dangerous. We are not assured of our next breath or heartbeat. We could die in our sins and enter an eternity apart from God in hell. Cemeteries are full of the remains of those who thought they had plenty of time.
You may think this is all some sort of foolishness … that there is nothing to anything I am saying. But you know somewhere deep down inside of you that it is all true. You won’t be able to say that you didn’t know or understand. God will hold you accountable. You will have no acceptable excuse. It is a dangerous thing to fall into the hands of the living God. I remind you that from youth you have known the Sacred Scriptures which are able to save you. Come, let us reason together. Though your sins are as scarlet … you can be made clean before Almighty God. He is a God that loves you and wants you to come to repentance and be saved. There is no other way. He alone is able to save you. Millions can testify that it was the best decision they ever made. Millions who have got saved have no regrets, but trillions that rejected salvation have the biggest regret of their lives. Now is the time … the day of salvation. Don’t put it off. This may be your last opportunity and probably will be for some reading this.
