FEMALE PASTORS
Female pastors are commonplace nowadays, but is it okay for a woman to be a pastor? What has God said in His Word? Surely He knew it would become a matter that we need to deal with.
I have been in a church where there were two female pastors that shared the pulpit alternately. Later it was found out that one of them was a lesbian. I have been in churches where husband and wife co-pastored. I have been in churches where women were allowed to teach and preach occasionally although they were not the pastor. I have been in churches where no females were allowed behind the pulpit. I will state upfront that some the females were better preachers or teachers than men. However, that is not the point. It all comes down to being obedient to God. Read HERE what God has said about it. It comes down to Eve was deceived while Adam was not.
God is clear enough about it in His Word so what is the problem? Disobedience is the problem. It is that simple. All too many ignore what God has said. Some are ignorant of what God has said. Most are defiant of what God has said. Some listen to the wrong voice or voices and justify what they choose to do. Some are convinced that God has called them to be a pastor when He did not.
That is true of a lot of men too. They have become pastors even though God had nothing to do with it. I knew a couple of pastors … both of whom were my high school classmates … and both became pastors. They operated entirely in the flesh in their own strength apart from God. Some lay people are far more spiritual and Godly.
I personally do not like sitting under the authority of a female in leadership. Note I said authority … not teaching or even preaching. I am talking about the female being in charge over men. If I were ever faced with that in any church I was a part of I would speak out against it giving biblical reasons and if they did not repent and change the situation I would leave that church.
Now if a male pastor is the head authority and carefully monitors what any and all females are preaching and teaching to ensure it is biblical and accurate I am fine with that scenario.
It is important that we obey God in ALL things. We can’t pick those things out of His Word we like and throw out those things we don’t like. We would probably have pretty thin bibles if we did that. Females can teach females. That is fine. But Female Pastors in authority over men … I agin’ it.
