Many believe things which just are not true. Some believe in reincarnation. Some believe death is the end and that there is nothing more. Some believe that they can and do actually become a god. I am here to tell you that everybody has eternal life. It is just a matter of where we spend it. There are only two choices … heaven or hell. And they truly are choices that we alone make … and can make.
The bible says that it is appointed unto man once to die and then we stand in judgement. There is no second chance in another life and the grave certainly is not the end of it. This body we live in dies and gets buried but it is only our house or garage we live in. We humans consist of a body, a soul and a spirit. Do you know that when a person dies a slight amount of weight can be detected as the soul leaves the body. It is only true with human beings … not with animals who have no soul. Scientists have conducted experiments where people close to death were placed on a very sensitive scale where this was observed upon death.
All too many refuse to believe what God has clearly told us in His Word. Are you willing to stake your eternal soul on disagreeing with God? Eternity is a long time to spend regretting such a thing. Many personal testimonies have been made about the vast difference between someone dying with Jesus in their heart and life and someone dying without Jesus in their heart and life. Those in Christ died peacefully and an angel carried them off while those who died without Jesus died scared and screaming as they saw demons (and/or hell fire) at the foot of their death bed coming to take them away.
Billy Graham was a great evangelist, but Jimmy Swaggart is my favorite. Here is a message he preached back in 1984 entitled “Can God Condemn a Man to Hell, Burn Him There Forever and Justify Himself?” It is a long video but worth watching.
Hell is real and there won’t be any marchmellow roasting there. There won’t be any partying going on with your friends. Oh, they might be there. You might even hear their screams, but you won’t see each other. Everybody will be cut off from one another. There is no visitation in hell … only eternal suffering with fire and brimstone (sulfur). I have been to a few places on earth (GITMO, Key West, FL, Great Lakes Naval Station, IL especially in the winter, Florida in the summertime, Del Rio, TX, and others) I considered terrible places to be, but compared to the description of hell they were all wonderful places.
The good news is no one has to go there. Maybe I need to restate that. Most of us don’t have to go there. There are exceptions … such as those who have committed blasphemy (the unpardonable sin) against God. All other sin can be forgiven. Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, often referred to as the unpardonable sin, is described in the Bible as a deliberate and ongoing rejection of the truth about Jesus and attributing His works to evil. This sin is considered unforgivable because it reflects a hardened heart that refuses to accept the Holy Spirit’s guidance towards repentance and faith in Christ. Hopefully none of you have done this.
If so, regardless of what you have done … how terrible of a person you have been … forgiveness is available to you. However, you need to know and understand that it is a limited time offer. It won’t always be offered and available.
And if think you have been a very good person I remind you of what God has said … that all of our righteousness is as filthy rags before Him. We don’t and can’t begin to compare to His holiness and perfection … which is the measuring stick He uses. No one can begin to measure up to God. We all fall short of His glory. We truly need His forgiveness and cleansing of sin in our lives. It is readily available.
But God does require repentance. Repentance involves a change of mind (thinking). We must be willing and want to turn around and go the opposite direction. We have been walking away from God and the things of God and now we need to walk toward Him … seeking His way and will for our lives. No one can get saved without first repenting. God is looking at our heart and knows whether or not we are serious and sincere. We can’t fool Him.
God loves each and everyone of us and it is His will (desire) for all to repent and get saved. He doesn’t want to send anyone to hell but He will if we ignore and reject the salvation He alone offers. We need to understand that our eternal fate is already known and established.
The only ones that have an automatic ticket or pass good for heaven are young children or adults with childlike mentality. Children who have not yet matured enough to understand that they need salvation are allowed into heaven, but once they do understand they have reached the point of accountability to the Lord. That time and age is different from one child to the next. Only God knows when this occurs.
All the rest of us are answerable (accountable) to God and that is why it is so important that we deal with the sin problem we all have. God beckons us to come to Him and reason together that we might understand it all and do what is required to get saved. He awaits with open arms to welcome you.
