No lie is of the truth…1st John 2:21 Truth is defined as that which conforms with absolute fact or reality. In a word, truth is total reality. It is how things actually are whether we believe it or not.Theologically, truth is that which is consistent with the mind, will, character, glory, and being of God almighty. Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth….John 17:17 How valuable is the truth? Its worth is more than gold, yes, than much fine gold… The judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: …Psalm 19:9-10 Truth is absolute.. Without God, there cannot be any absolutes. Without absolutes, truth becomes subjective to our fallen bodies feelings and whims.Without absolutes, truth gives way to our personal or cultural preferences. But to the contrary, all truth is absolute because God is absolute truth as found only in His word the Bible. Truth is divine… Ultimately, all truth is God’s truth. Truth is from above. It is totally alien to this crazy planet, it’s not of this world. It is not what the crowd speculates something to be. It is not determined by opinion polls, nor is it discovered by public surveys. It is not grandfathered in by human tradition. Truth can be known only by divine revelation…. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works….2nd Timothy 3:16-17 Truth is singular ( no such thing as truths) Truth is a single entity. It does not exist in bits and pieces of unrelated ideas or disconnected data. The Bible most often uses the definite article when speaking of the truth. Truth can never be merely a truth, as if it exists in fragments from various sources. Truth is not a collection of beliefs gleaned from obscure/detached sources. It can never ever be found in a study of comparative religions or competing philosophies. Instead, all truth is found in the ONE true God and in the ONE true Bible…The King James Bible.Yes i said it. Truth is immutable ( changeless) God does not change and neither does His truth, which cannot be true today but not true tomorrow. Truth is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Right is always right and wrong is forever wrong. Society tries to redefine morality. Culture tries to reclassify its morals. But Jesus identified Himself as the Truth, not the custom of the day. Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me….John 14:6 Truth has the last word… Has the final word in ALL matters, telling us how to worship and how to walk. It tells us how to follow Christ. It is the final arbitrator on any/ every subject. Truth judges us fairly… It is also the final judge of every life including yours and mine.All people are measured by the truth of God.Every life is weighed in the balances by the truth. Every destiny is marked by the truth. And so the truth will have the final say in every life on judgement day… So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God….Romans 14:12. Truth has very few friends, only those that love truth back in return fully enjoy Him. Do you enjoy the TRUTH??”
That is the end of Gary’s article. I want to add a thought. Most of us who are old enough remember the tv show, Truth or Consequences. A town in New Mexico is also named this. Kind of strange, huh?
God Who is the one and only source of Truth has given us, provided us Truth. What we do with it is up to us. We need to understand that there are consequences to how we deal with the Truth. If we except the Truth we will be blessed, but if we ignore and reject the Truth we will be cursed. That is God’s Truth or Consequences. Jesus said of Himself, I AM THE WAY, THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE. NO ONE COMES TO THE FATHER EXCEPT THRU ME. John 1:9-11 … “9 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, yet the world did not know Him. 11 He came to His own, and His own people did not receive Him.” The vast majority of people rejected the Truth when the Truth appeared before them and it has never changed. But the very next verse still applies today … John 1:12-13 … “12 But to all who did receive Him, who believed in His name, He gave the right (authority, abilty) to become children of God, 13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.” Jesus stands awaiting us into His open arms.
