I spent the first 30 years of my life as an atheist, but now I can honestly say that I don’t have enough faith to be an atheist. The evidence for the existence of God is just too overwhelming. I literally do not need to look any further than the end of my arm to find it. My hand testifies to the glory and power of God. I can hold it out in front of me and see the complexity in design and functionality.

Yes, I used to believe that there is no God. I wasn’t really sure just what I believed just so I was not believing in God. I know now that if I say I believe in God then that makes me accountable to Him and I didn’t want to be accountable. But just because I didn’t want to be accountable doesn’t change the truth … that I am accountable. I am not going to go into how God got my attention and changed my heart and thinking. It really does take a lot of faith to be an atheist. One has to believe in total nonsense that has absolutely no evidence to back it up. The evidence that does exist that there is a God has to be ignored. God has put a witness in each and every one of us, but we try to ignore it and reject it. We harden our hearts to the truth. We allow the devil to deceive us and lead us away from God.

Yes, it takes a lot of faith to be an atheist. And all because people don’t want to deal with the truth. God has done all He can do … all He needs to do. We can accept Him or reject Him. You can be an atheist if you want to … if you have enough faith. But someday you will find yourself standing face to face with the Truth and you won’t be able to deny Him and what He will say to you. You won’t like what you hear Him say to you, but you were warned and you alone are responsible for your choice. God loves you. It certainly is not His desire or will that He has to judge you for dying in your sin.

He loves you so much He made a way for you to escape that fate. No one has to go to hell but most will simply because they refuse to turn to God with their sin. They would rather ignore God and His help. They would rather believe Satan’s lies and be their own god in control of their own lives even if it costs them their eternal soul. Satan has convinced them that none of what the bible says is true or that they have plenty of time and don’t need to be concerned right now. But the graveyards are full of those Satan had deceived … people who thought they had plenty of time to get right with God.

Do you know what sin is? The most accurate description is “rebellion against God”. And that certainly is what is going on. God will let us have our sin, but He tells us that the wages of sin (rebellion against Him) is eternal damnation. It is called the second death (Revelation 20:14). It has been said and rightfully so that those who are born twice only experience one death (the natural death that comes at the end of each life), and those who have only been born once will experience two deaths. Everyone who has ever lived has experienced one birth .. the natural birth. Many have experienced a second birth … been born again (John 3:3,5,7) … which is a spiritual birth (our spirit which is dead because of sin is made alive to God and the things of God by the Holy Spirit).

I challenge you to read the bible. Use a version which you can understand … definitely not the King James Version. I recommend the New American Standard (NASB) or the English Standard Version (ESV) or initially you can read a paraphrase bible such as The Living Bible. I suggest you start reading in the book of John (not 1, 2 or 3 John). Before you read I suggest you do your best to clear your mind of anything you think you know and understand of the bible. I also suggest you ask God in prayer for His help in understanding His Word and His help in not allowing anything to hinder your understanding. If you will do this and give God a chance to speak to you thru His Word I believe He will. Your eternal soul is at stake.
