Do you fear the Lord? We all need to have a reverential fear of God. Scripture says that it is the beginning of wisdom in a person’t life. But many show no fear of God … no fear or respect at all. Again Scripture tells us that it is God alone Who is able to send a person to hell. Your fellow man can kill you, but he can’t send you to hell. No, revering God is all important. Instead most of mankind completely ignore God. They pay no attention to Him. He doesn’t even enter their thinking.
The Amplified Bible explains that “the [reverent] fear of the Lord [that is, worshiping Him and regarding Him as truly awesome] is the beginning and the preeminent part of wisdom [its starting point and its essence], and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding and spiritual insight.” This means that respecting and honoring God is the foundation of true wisdom and understanding. Proverbs 9:10
Yes, it is just the beginning … the very essence of wisdom in a person’s life, but if it is lacking … well, what can be said? Not much. We all need God … the One Who created us. He won’t force Himself on us as He is a gentleman. He waits patiently for us to come to Him after inviting us. He stands at the door of our hearts knocking hoping we will open the door and invite Him in. But without wisdom in our life that won’t happen.
What about you? Do you have wisdom? Do your fear the One Who is able to cast your eternal soul into the Lake of Fire? Or do you just go thru life playing ostrich with your head buried in the sand thinking that there is no truth to this warning God has given? Do you just live your life the way you want to life it? After all, it is your life, right? Yes, it is your life sure enough and it is your choice what you do with it. But you are accountable to God and sooner or later you will answer to Him. “The [reverent] fear of the LORD [that is, worshiping Him and regarding Him as truly awesome] is the beginning and the preeminent part of wisdom [its starting point and its essence], And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding and spiritual insight.” That hasn’t changed and won’t. It does not give pleasure to God to have to send anyone to hell. That is never His will for anyone … not even the worst sinner among us. He would much prefer that they repent and get right with Him … receive His forgiveness. But everyone much choose and must do so while there is time. Once death occurs it is too late. Many years ago most people revered the Lord … respected Him, but nowadays very few do.
America’s future may be questionable, but your fate is still open … you still have a choice.
May 17th our President is rededicating our nation to the Lord. That is great, but it is only as good as those who revere the Lord and can and will sincerely be a part of it. We are not the nation we once were. I don’t know if we ever will be again. I doubt it. We’ve come a long way, baby … the wrong way! We have changed, but God hasn’t. He still loves us!
