That’s my dad for ya … always clowning around! No, he didn’t have a sweat shirt like that. I did some photo editing and created it. We had some fun with it. The original picture was of an Old Navy (brand) sweatshirt.

My dad was in the Navy during WW2 so I used this picture of him saying that he was old navy. He lived with us the last several years of his life. He died in 2009. I sure miss him. But, hey, I am not here trying to write about him. I have already done that in my Tribute to my dad page.

Maybe you have heard it said before that it is a sin to worry. Well, it is true .. at least for a Christian. There are various reasons for that. The bible teaches us that God is in control. The bible teaches us that His ways are not our ways. The bible teaches us that God works everything out for our good. The bible teaches us that it does no good to worry … that usually it is all for nothing if we do. The bible teaches us that worrying shows a lack of faith and trust … and that without faith it is impossible to please God. We accomplish nothing to the good by worrying. There are probably more reasons, but this is all that is coming to mind right now.

Hey, that is quite a few and they are all significant. Early Christians found themselves in prisons shackled awaiting further sentencing and punishment, but they didn’t worry. They sang praises unto the Lord and the Lord delivered them from their captors. Earthquakes occurred, shackles fell off, prison doors opened … God can do anything. He is the God of the impossible. Nothing is too difficult for Him.

And the good news is … He is not a respecter of people. What He has done for others, He will do for us. No one is more important to God or loved more by God than anyone else.

I was an atheist for the first 30 years of my life. So was my dad and I followed in his footsteps. My mother was a church goer most of her life but she was not saved until shortly before her death at the age of 84. When I was just a young child … about 6 years old my mom had a 45 rpm record of Eddie Fisher singing “It is no secret what God can do”. I always liked the song even though I didn’t believe in God at that time in my life. We sing it in church frequently nowadays. I think it is a neat song. I learned it listening to my mom’s record as a young child. It stuck with me all thru my life as I remember the tune and the words. BTW, my dad got saved at 93 shortly before he died.

Anyway, true believers and followers of Jesus Christ should not worry, but fully trust God. If there is anything going on that is concerning make it a matter of prayer thanking God for His answer and resolve. And don’t forget one of the hardest things … that the Lord told us … to thank Him both IN and FOR all things. That my not be easy. It may not make sense to us, but it is very important that we obey God as He instructed to do this. It’s okay to say to God that we don’t understand things now, but we trust in Him and thank Him IN and FOR all things. If we do this we can mature and be pleasing to Him. And be like Alfred E. … don’t worry! LoL
