Life is full of all sorts of things to capture our attention. And Satan is good at distracting us and leading us away from what is really important. Even though most of us live 70 plus years those years pass by very quickly. It doesn’t seem like it when you are young, but just ask anyone who is old and they will tell you that the years passed by very quickly … like a vapor … here today but gone so very quickly.
What I am trying to say is life is too short to spend on all the trappings and miss out on what is most important. And what is most important? Our eternal soul is what is most important. 70 plus years compared to eternity? Our bodies will die, but our soul lives on. It has eternal life. And the main thing is “where will we spend eternity?”
Nope, there is nothing more important then this matter. It is the main thing in life. I would be amiss if I spent time and energy talking about other things. I need to keep the main thing the main thing. That is best for you and for me. There are lots of other things I could spend my time and energy writing about. It may or may not interest you. But like everybody else I have to someday answer to God Who has already said that we are to keep the main thing the main thing. He didn’t say it in those exact words but the message is clear enough.
He has commissioned me (as He has all born again believers) to “preach the good news about Jesus Christ”. He clearly instructed me not to get sidetracked. Eternal souls are at stake. If you die without Christ and I failed to warn you of your peril and share the gospel message with you God will hold me accountable. I don’t want that charge against me. I much prefer to obey God than fail Him in this. So that is why you see me trying to keep the main thing the main thing.
