WHO KILLED JESUS?
Do you know? Who killed Jesus?
Did the Jewish people kill Jesus? Yes, they did! Religious Jews plotted to kill Him. The crowd yelled out “Crucify Him” when asked what should be done with Him. So yes, they killed Jesus … or at least had Him killed.
Who killed Jesus? Was it the Romans? Yes, the Romans carried out His crucifixion. It was Roman soldiers who nailed Him to the cross. So yes, the Romans killed Jesus.
Or was there any others who were involved? Why did Jesus have to die? Have you ever thought about it? He could have prevented it. Why didn’t He? He could have called 10,000 angels to set Him free and destroy the world, but He died alone for you and me. It was necessary. It was the only way we could be saved from our sins. So it can truly be said that you and I killed Jesus. Have you ever thought about that?
Yes, YOU KILLED JESUS. YOU KILLED GOD! He willingly allowed it, but the truth is your sin and mine were responsible for His death. We killed Him and still He loves us. He loved us before, during and after His cruel death. He still loves us. He demonstrated His great love for us by dying in our place. Our sin has consequences. God has said that the wages of sin is eternal punishment in the Lake of Fire.
Either we pay the penalty for our sin ourselves … OR … we allow Jesus to pay it for us. It is our choice. If we choose to pay the penalty ourselves that means we choose to go to hell when we die. But if we choose Jesus He can and will forgive us of our sin (sin is rebellion against God) and cleanse us of our unrighteousness. He will make us right with and acceptable to His Father. God loves us and wants very much to respond to His love. It starts by accepting Jesus as our Savior, inviting Him into our life. But again, it is our choice. He has done His part. He has made the way (not a way … there is no other way), but we must choose it. We must choose Him … believing and accepting what He did for us by dying on that cross. Sin is serious. It must be dealt with. We must repent … be willing to stop sinning.
We can’t stop sinning by ourselves. We need His help. If we die “in our sin” … while still sinning … we will surely perish and face the penalty of our sin. Now is the time to deal with our sin problem. Procrastination is a very dangerous thing. We are literally playing Russian roulette with our eternal soul and the odds are against us … impossible to beat. Every one of us are already condemned … on our way to hell. Only Jesus can save us … the One we killed!
By the way, all three entities killed Jesus …
but it was all because of sin that He died.
And it was not the nails that held Jesus to the cross.
It was His love for you and me.
