A WITNESS

Have you ever served as a witness to something where you testified to the validity of something happening as a result? It could be in a legal proceeding in a court room or lawyer’s office which means that the witness is under oath to tell the truth. That is the way we normally think of a witness, but it is not the only way.

It can be outside of the legal system. It can be simply testifying about something we saw, ate and tasted, experienced, heard, or read. It can literally be about anything. In Christiandom, it is about personal knowledge and experience about God and His reality … His transforming power … His ability to save a life … His power and ability to heal … His faithfulness in providing, etc. Every born again child of God is called by God to be His witness. Sadly, many fail to do so.

But if a person has truly experienced God acting and working and moving in their life why would they not want to testify? If He has made Himself known to them … if He has shown His mighty power … if He has performed a miracle or miracles in their lives … why would they not be anxious to tell others?

When a person comes to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ they should be completely changed if it is real. Their thinking and behavior should change. Their mind and heart should change to where their thoughts and values line up with God’s. What matters to God should matter to them. That means that every soul is valuable to them … that they want all to be saved. Sharing the gospel message should be second nature to them.

That is why I put so much time and effort into writing all these hundreds of pages. I call it “reasoning together” in hopes unsaved people will read what is written and it will challenge their heart and thinking to where God can speak to them and get their attention. I can’t save anyone, but God and only God can. The Holy Spirit draws people unto God.

Many years ago the church my wife and I were a part of put on a a musical cantata called “The Witness”. It was a powerful story in music and song. Here are 2 videos. The first one is the original soundtrack but it has no video … only audio. The 2nd one is a video from a church where the Easter Musical was presented to the general public. The singing is not quite as good but having the actors performing makes a lot of difference. This Musical cantata has been presented by churches all over the world.

The video is, of course, all about the Apostle Peter giving personal testimony of all he witnessed concerning Jesus. BTW, sometimes those who present these cantatas add or remove certain songs and add their own in their place. I have not compared these videos to know if this happened here.

People can argue against many things in life, but no one can refute a personal testimony. They can choose to disbelieve it and reject it but they can’t deny it. In this particular case there are literally many millions of witnesses so for anyone to try to reject the reality is ridiculous.

When someone has an encounter with Jesus they can’t help but testify to others. They literally want to tell everyone they can. All that Jesus’s followers are testifying about can be the same testimony you can have as God is not a respecter of persons. What He has done for others He will do for you.

It would be interesting to know how many people remain lost vs. those who get saved. At the present time the world population is about 8.3 billion. By conservative estimates there have been at least 300 billion people who have lived and died on the earth–almost all of them a long time before Christ came into the world. Most lived and died with being saved so just imagine how many souls have ended up in hell. No wonder Scripture proclaims that hell is ever expanding to accept all those are going there.

You don’t have to be a part of that number. You can accept the testimony of these millions of witnesses and even join them simply by turning to God rather than running away from Him. He awaits with open arms to welcome you home. Don’t put off salvation. It is very dangerous to do so as you don’t know if you will have another chance. You could be dead (in your sins) in the very near future. Give careful sincere thought to it.
