Laws of Nature. We have all heard of them … what goes up must come down … is one example. Most people don’t stop to think about that when they fire a gun up into the air. That bullet shot up into the air is going to come back down. Many people have been injured or killed as a result of such stupidity and carelessness. These are laws. They are a sure thing. They work. We can count on them.

What about the law of sowing and reaping? If you plant an apple seed in the ground don’t expect an orange tree to sprout. Whatever a farmer plants that is what he expects to harvest.

Laws of nature stem from God. God has other laws as well. If you jump off of a 20 story building you can expect to die or at least get seriously injured. If you get cut you can expect to bleed. If you touch a hot surface you can expect to get burned. The list goes on and on. Violation of a law has results … consequences.

God gave man 10 Laws or Commandments to obey … not suggestions to consider. He warned us of the consequence of disobeying them. Yet everyone of us has disobeyed His laws. And He says that if we break just one of the ten we are guilty of breaking all 10. The consequence of breaking God’s law is total separation from God in eternal punishment in torment in the Lake of Fire. That is pretty serious.

The problem is no one can keep from breaking God’s commandment. God knew that when He gave them to man. But He is a loving God and He did not leave us in that predicament. He came to our rescue. He did so by leaving heaven and coming to earth in the form of a man … the man Jesus Christ. He came for the very purpose of saving us, but we rejected Him and still do. But to those who accept and receive Him He gives the power and authority to receive His pardon and forgiveness over our failure to obey Him.

But again, it is our choice. He won’t force us. He simply offers salvation to us. We can continue to reject His offer and face the consequences of failing to obey Him. We will reap what we have sown. It is the law and no one is above the law!
