I was just watching a video of an adult women stooping down low to hug a young girl. It was necessary as the young girl could not get up to her. As I watched it I was reminded of a song and truism. In the video the woman was a giant compared to the child. No matter how much the child wanted the hug it would not have happened unless and until the adult did something. It is the same way with God and us. He is so much bigger than we are so He came down to our level to embrace us.

If the adult woman didn’t care anything about the young girl she probably would not have lowered herself to be at the same level as the child. The child had no way to get up to her level. It is the same with God. If He didn’t care about us He would have just remained where He was in heaven. But God does love us dearly and so He came down to our level … here on earth … so that we could experience Him in our lives. He holds His arms out welcoming us to His embrace. Someone once asked … how much does God love us? His answer was very clear … He stretched His arms out and died for us … taking our place … paying the price for our sins. But it has to be personalized. His death was not a blanket deal covering all of us. Salvation is a gift. It is free, but like any gift it is not ours until we accept and receive it. We must take possession of it. God offers it and encourages us to receive it. That is all He can do. That is all He needs to do. He won’t force us to take it but He surely wants us to.

Anyone who goes to hell will only have themselves to blame.
